Two Ways to Apply
Choose the application route that fits your situation. Both lead to the same visa, but the process differs based on where you apply from.
Consulate Route
Apply from your home country
Apply at a Spanish consulate in your country. Best if you want approval before traveling to Spain.
Best for: Those who want certainty before relocating, or can't enter Spain on a tourist visa.
UGE Route
Apply from within Spain
Enter Spain legally (tourist visa or visa-free) and apply directly to UGE while in the country.
Best for: Those who can enter Spain visa-free and want faster processing with longer initial authorization.
Not sure which route is right for you? Start tracking your journey and we'll guide you based on your situation.
Two Qualification Pathways
Spain offers two ways to qualify for the DNV. Choose based on your educational background and work experience.
Degree Pathway
Work related to your degree
Your freelance or remote work is directly related to your university degree. Requires credential authentication.
Requirements
- University degree related to your work
- CAV credential authentication
- Diploma apostilled and translated
Experience Pathway
Work experience over degree
Your degree is NOT related to your current work, but you have 3+ years of professional experience in your field.
Requirements
- 3+ years of related work experience
- Employment or freelance records
- No CAV needed (faster process)
Which pathway is right for me?
If you're a software developer with a CS degree, use the Degree Pathway. If you're a developer with a Business degree, use the Experience Pathway. When in doubt, we'll help you determine the best option based on your profile.
